Portfolio Reviewer Sign Up (Optional Activity)

If you've already completed reunion registration and you'll be in Blacksburg by 11am AM on Friday, March 25, consider reviewing the portfolios of current students! This is meant to be a more casual portfolio review than ones we've helped organize in the past. We ask that you sign up ASAP so we can make sure we allocate enough space. Please sign up no later than Sunday, March 20th.

Transportation From/To Roanoke

Need a ride? We know some of you will be getting to Blacksburg by way of plane, train, or bus to Roanoke. One easy, cheap way to get to Blacksburg from the Roanoke Airport or Amtrak station is the Smart Way Bus. As an alternative, some students are volunteering to pick up and drop off alumni who are traveling via Roanoke. If you would like to be picked up and/or dropped off by a current student, please sign up no later than Sunday, March 20th.

Parking On-Campus

The Virginia Tech Parking Policy has been recently updated (Aug 2020) and no longer offers free parking to visitors. Please review VT's Visitor Parking page to learn about the parking options and restrictions. If you plan to park on campus for Friday's activities, you will need to pay for parking

FAQ

What precautions are you taking to prevent the spread of COVID-19?

All attendees of the VTID Reunion must adhere to current Virginia Tech policy. Check out VT's COVID-Ready FAQ page for the most up-to-date information. Masks are required in all indoor public spaces and encouraged in outdoor spaces. COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters are required for all students who do not receive exemption and strongly encouraged for faculty.

Who's invited to the 2022 VTID Alumni Reunion?

Alumni (from all graduation years), VTID Faculty/Staff (current and former), and VTID Donors. Current VTID students will be participating in some of Reunion activities.

Can I bring my partner and/or family to the reunion?

Yes! We encourage you to bring your your partner and/or family to Blacksburg. Partners are invited to Friday's Alumni x Faculty Dinner and the Alumni x Student x Faculty Gathering on Saturday will be family friendly. Though spouses and family are not exempt from Friday's on-campus activities, please note that the activities will be highly catered to the alumni experience.

Why is there a $10 registration fee per Reunion attendee?

The Reunion is an event hosted by both the VTID Program and IDAB. We will be using half the registration fee to cover the cost of reunion expenses. The other half will help fund The Industrial Design Advisory Board's Travel Award, our new award that will support travel opportunities for students.

What if I don't practice design?

Why does that matter? You're a part of the VTID community! The Reunion is about reconnecting with old friends, classmates, and faculty. It's also about meeting current students, but the experiences you share don't have to be about design; not all students, former or current, go in that direction and those perspectives are just as important.
