Virginia Tech Giving Day
Giving Day is a 24-hour celebration of the Hokie Spirit and the power of giving back, occurring annually in February. Giving Day is a really important fundraising event for the Industrial Design program. By working together with those who love the VTID community, the donations made to the Virginia Tech Annual Fund on Giving Day provide financial support directly to students who will benefit the most.
What is the VTID Annual Fund?
The advisory board creates educational, professional, and social opportunities to connect students, alumni, and industry professionals with one another. Additionally, IDAB works behind the scenes as a neutral party to gauge the pulse of the VTID community and provide outreach.
The Industrial Design Annual Fund is an important source of support for the program, as it helps to ensure that students have access to the resources and experiences they need to succeed. The donations to the annual fund are tax-deductible and are directed to the program that the donor specifies, in this case, the Industrial Design program. The goal of the annual fund is to provide the program with the necessary resources to provide students with a well-rounded education and to prepare them for successful careers in the field of industrial design.
Why give to the VTID Program?
Donating to the Virginia Tech Industrial Design program helps fund student awards and networking events by providing necessary resources that allow students to participate in these opportunities, gain recognition, and connect with industry professionals, which in turn, helps them to develop their skills and succeed in their careers.
Student Award
Virginia Tech Industrial Design student awards are recognitions or prizes given to students in the Industrial Design program at Virginia Tech for their outstanding work and achievements. These awards can be given for various reasons such as academic excellence, outstanding design work, leadership, or community service. Through donations raised by the VTID Annual Fund, IDAB is able to support student awards focused on both recognizing community leadership and reducing the financial burden of travel, respectively.
Networking Events
IDAB has hosted and supported multiple Virginia Tech Industrial Design networking events. These events provide students with opportunities to connect with professionals in the field of industrial design and learn about the latest industry trends and developments. For alumni, they provide an opportunity to reconnect with their alma mater and stay connected with the Industrial Design program and its current students and faculty as well as help them to stay informed about the program's developments and provide them with a sense of community and belonging. Overall, these networking events are critical opportunities for the VTID community to build relationships that will serve them in their future.
