IDAB Merit Award Nomination Details
2025 Nomination Period: February 27 - March 31
The Industrial Design Advisory Board Award is an annual award given to an undergraduate student in the industrial design major who has shown a high level of leadership and initiative in advancing design practices. This can encompass initiating and executing activities within AAD or the program, taking part in extracurricular or pro-bono design initiatives, and producing significant work in any medium (design project, writing in a publication, public speaking, etc) that shows innovation and forward-thinking.
Award Overview
The IDAB Merit Award recognizes an undergraduate Industrial Design student who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and initiative in strengthening the VTID community. Recipients actively contribute to the program beyond coursework by mentoring peers, leading student initiatives, advocating for the program, or engaging in activities that enhance the student experience.

Their impact may be demonstrated through various forms of engagement, including student-led projects, extracurricular involvement, or initiatives that foster collaboration and innovation within the program.
The award will be presented to the recipient at the annual School of Design Award Ceremony.
Nomination Process
Any current undergraduate Industrial Design student may be nominated through self-nomination, peer nomination, or faculty nomination.

To submit a nomination, provide a nomination letter that includes:

The nominee’s name, graduation year, and email address.

A description of their leadership and contributions to the VTID community.

Specific examples of their impact, such as initiatives they’ve led, mentorship efforts, or advocacy for the program.

Optional: Links to external work that support the nomination.
