IDAB Service Award Nomination Details

2026 Nomination Period: February 1 - March 18

The Industrial Design Advisory Board Award for Service to the Virginia Tech Industrial Design Program is an annual award given to an undergraduate student in the industrial design major who has shown exceptional commitment to serving and supporting the VTID community. Recipients demonstrate leadership and initiative through activities such as mentoring fellow students, organizing program events or initiatives, advocating for their peers, contributing to program operations, or taking on roles that strengthen the student experience within Industrial Design, the School of Design, and/or the College of Architecture, Arts, and Design. This award recognizes students who go beyond their coursework to make the program better for everyone.

Award Overview

The IDAB Award for Service to VTID recognizes an undergraduate Industrial Design student who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and initiative in strengthening the VTID community. Recipients actively contribute to the program beyond coursework by mentoring peers, leading student initiatives, advocating for the program, or engaging in activities that enhance the student experience.

Their impact may be demonstrated through various forms of engagement, including student-led projects, extracurricular involvement, or initiatives that foster collaboration and innovation within the program.

 

The award will be presented to the recipient at the annual School of Design Award Ceremony.

Nomination Process

Any current undergraduate Industrial Design student may be nominated through self-nomination, peer nomination, or faculty nomination.

To submit a nomination, provide a nomination letter that includes:

  • The nominee’s name, graduation year, and email address.

  • A description of their leadership, contributions to, and impact on the VTID community.

  • Specific examples of their impact, such as initiatives they’ve led, mentorship efforts, or advocacy for the program.

  • Optional: Links to external work that support the nomination.

 

Submit nominations to the Industrial Design Advisory Board at vt.idab@gmail.com with the subject line "2026 IDAB Service Award Nomination - [Nominee Name]" by Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
